The line graph represents a comparative change in price among food items like fresh fruits and vegetables, sugar and sweets and carbonated drinks over the span of 30 years from 1979 to 2009. Overall, all the food items began from the same price point in 1979 but the price of fresh fruit and vegetables  experienced the highest growth during the period whereas the price of carbonated drinks was the lowest among all.

Firstly, after beginning from just above 50 taka, the price of fresh fruit and vegetables reached 100 taka in 1983. It then experienced a sudden fall in price between 1983-1985 and after that it surpassed all other foods’ price. In 2009, it reached over 300 taka after having random fluctuations and staying well above the consumer price index.

The line graph presents how the price of fresh fruits and vegetables, sugars and sweets, and carbonated drinks changed over 40 years time period starting from 1978 to 2009.

From the graph it is clear that prices of each of these foods followed an upward trend over this mentioned time period. Initially, price of fresh fruits and vegetables, sugars and sweets, and carbonated drinks were almost same in 1978. But prices of these products went up gradually as the time increased. Fresh fruits and vegetables became the most costly product among the above mentioned products and followed an upward trend with some fluctuations.

Furthermore, price of sweet products and drinks also followed an increasing pattern with less fluctuation compared to that of fresh fruits and vegetables. However, price of carbonated drinks

did not change much from the year 1990 to 2000. After being almost a fixed price for a decade, the price began to increase. The consumer price index also followed an upward trend over four decades.

The line graph depicts a comparison of amount of pollution caused by Sulphur dioxide and Smoke in London from the years 1600 to 2000.

Overall, Sulphur dioxide is the one that consitantly had higher pollution level than Smoke over the period of 400 years.

To begin with,Sulphur dioxide started with just above zero pollution level in 1600 and it continued to rise for the next fifty years. In between 1650 to 1700, it experienced a sudden fall in pollution level after reaching near 750 micrograms per cubic metre. But after that, it again had a sharp increase and crossed the 750 micrograms per cubic metre mark and the pollution level again started dropping until 1750.

After 1750, it maintained a steady level for almost for the next 50 years. Just a few years before 1800, it again started rising and crossed the 750 mark reaching close to the 1000 micrograms per cubic metre level between 1800-1850. After 1850, the pollution level underwent through some fluctuations and right before the start of the 20th century, it started decreasing. For the next 100 years, pollution level dropped continuously reaching nearly zero level in 2000.

On the other hand, the pollution level of smoke climbed continuously higher from nearly zero level for the next 300 years after 1600 although having random fluctuations during the period 1700-1750 and 1850-1900. Surprisingly, like Sulpher dioxide the pollution level due to Smoke began to reduce at the same time when the Sulpher dioxide’s pollution started falling. The pollution level reached nearly zero in 2000 just asSulpherdioxide  after experiencing fluctuations during the period.

The line graph shows the amount of air pollution caused from Sulphur dioxide and smoke in London up to 400 years starting from the year 1600.

There are two different lines indicating the level of pollution in terms of the weight of both Sulphur dioxide and smoke in micrograms per cubic meter. The upper line in the graph indicates that in the year 1600, amount of sulphur dioxide in the air was greater than smoke. Amount of Sulphur dioxide in the air gradually increased over time followed by some fluctuations up to year 1900. The pollution level was high in mid 1800’s. However, the amount of air degradation began to decline sharply after 1900, resulting a almost zero amount in year 2000.

Pollution level from smoke was less compared to that of Sulphur dioxide but the pollution caused from smoke gradually increased with insignificant fluctuations and reached a peak point in around 1890. Then for the next 100 years, it began to decline with some fluctuations and ended up to almost a zero amount in the year 2000.
