Still there is no report of damage or causalities. Tsunamis could hit Japan, Palau, Philippines, the Solomon Islands, Papua New Guinea, along with Indonesia, the warning center said.
Within the next six hours the first tsunami waves could arrive, "the initial wave may not be the largest" the warning center confirmed.
Immediately after the first quake, another 6.2 quack was monitored in the Sulawesi, Island of Indonesia, the USGS reported.
Indonesia is on the pacific plate boundaries "Ring of Fire" which causes frequent earthquakes.
More than 230,000 people killed in Banda Aceh with 9.1 magnitude earthquake followed by tsunami in 2004.
