The first complete skeleton of a Theropod dinosaur found in South Korea, one of the smallest species discovered in the country.
According to the statement of the institute, the skeleton was found in 450 km south of Seoul. The skeleton was about 28cm tall, 5.7cm long and 2.6cm wide.
The institute confirmed that it was not only the first complete skeleton of a Theropod Dinosaur, but it was also one of the smallest species discovered ever in South Korea.
Ironically, this small Theropod Dinosaur belongs to the large tyrannosaurus family which appeared 228 million years ago and survived in the world until 65 million years ago. Many modern bird have been evolved from that dinosaur.
The institute stated in its press release that the only dinosaur fossil in which the vertebrae was connected to the ribs. The South Korean paleontologists stated that they would investigate the area where they have found this fossil in order to find out the stage of development of the dinosaur and they would try to discover the family link of other Theropods whose skeletons have been found in South Korea.
Paleontologists of South Korea are trying to find out more information about this tiny creature. Till now, they have traced some fragments of bones of Theropods. By this time, some skeletons of other species have been found in Hadong in South Gyeongsand province a long-necked herbivore, which lived on the Korean peninsula.
