Most of the Americans (91%) believe that customers have lost control over the personal information used by the company, survey reveled. Pew Research suggests that 80% people believe that USA govt. should be concerned about online security. People referred back the Snowden's allegation. One of the security experts stated it as “unsurprising”
Media always focus on well-known US brands data breaches and Snowden allegations. According to author Mary Madden, “There is both widespread concern about government surveillance among the American public and a lack of confidence in the security of core communications channels.” "At the same time, there's an overwhelming sense that consumers have lost control over the way their personal information is collected and used by companies."
After the incident of Snowden, The British intelligence agency GCHQ and the US National Security Agency (NSA) reassured consumers that their individual data is protected. Some, along with Yahoo, Microsoft, Google and Apple, have assured advanced levels of data security for individual data to make it harder to spy.

Most of the customers indicated that they were pretty aware of weak privacy of the data service. 55% agreed that they need to share information to have free online services. In response to most secure communication system, most of the people said about landline phone. They feel very secure to share private information to any trusted person or any organization by landline. Social media sites were regarded as the least secure.
The survey recorded 600 responses to know the changing attitude to the privacy. The next survey will take place December 2014 to know the attitude how the information is stored and that will focus on post-Snowden society. Already it is found that 61% people want advanced security in their data protection.
